A Hybrid Option
Remote Worker Visa Option: Instead of using a short-term tourist visa, or a residency visa in a tax-advantaged country, a hybrid option is to move to a destination country that offers you a more extended “remote worker residency visa” (e.g., a one to two-year stay). To be tax-free, make sure to pick a country that also exempts you from local (foreign) taxes.
Tax Tip: Some countries programs require you to pay local income taxes. But we list the countries with tax-free one-to-two year visas below.
Note: If you use this approach, you will, in most cases, need to spend 330 days out of a 365-day period in one or more countries to qualify for the US tax breaks.
